Itinerary 143 Lago Delio-Centocampi (CH)

Total length of the route: 5.470 km
Travel time (outward route): 1:30 hr
Travel time (return route): 1:40 hr
Uphill: 11 m
Downhill : 285 m

As the route starts at the North dam of Lago Delio, walk down along a tarmac road and reach the bottom of the dam; near a pumped-storage plant turn left, past path 110 on the right heading for Passo Forcora. Get around the reservoir and keep on along the forest road winding at half slope, skirted for a long stretch by a lateral canal collecting water at the Bacinetto locality and flowing towards the reservoir at the bottom of the dam. Keep on along the flat path which follows the outline of the mountain side, cross a few streams which will further on flow into the Torrente Molinera and walk past the crossing with path 143A leading to Forcora on the right. Walk along the path which now runs on the opposite side of the valley and get to the mule track which will take us to Monti di Pino, an old pasture where all alpine cottages and houses have been restored, from which you can have a nice view over Valle Molinera and the mountains surrounding Lago Delio. At the fork next to a fountain, go past path 115 to Passo Forcora on the right, walk across the pasture, keep to the unpaved road heading for Zenna and at the junction, turn into the path going to Monti di Caviano – Centocampi on the right. The path runs downhill along the steep mountainside and gets to Valle di Dirinella. Here it climbs sharply down, further on it reaches a passage to the opposite hillside, it climbs up again for a short stretch and reaches the Monti di Caviano–Centocampi, in Switzerland, where you will see some well-preserved thatched-roof huts.
