The itinerary starts at Bonga, at Via Gaggio, at the crossroads with the 111 path, Variation 3V, Luino – Maccagno. Continue along Via Gaggio heading to Poppino as far as you reach the beginning of 171A path on your right which leads to cross 111 path again heading to Luino; continue along Via Bonga until you cross the SP6 Luino-Dumenza, at the Cinque Vie (Five Roads) place.
Go past the crossroads and take Via delle Motte, go ahead until you reach the crossroads with Via Crevella on the left where it joins path 171B to Roggiolo. Go straight ahead past the two crossroads on the right of 171C path to Rebisello and reach the crossroads where the mule track leading to Monte Bedea starts on your left. Take this mule track which winds up in large hairpin turns through the thick wood of Monte Bedea hillside until you reach the crossroads with 171B path to Roggiolo which you will leave on your left. Walk along the mule track following other hairpin turns until you see the ruins of the barracks of the antiaircraft militia in front of you. Go past the barracks on the left and take the path leading up to the top of Monte Bedea where you can see some trenches of the Linea Cadorna as you go past a damp area on your left. The path now continues downwards, direction SE, and then turn right, reaching a place called "Il Valdo" where the paved road leading to Longhirolo starts, at the crossroads with Via Torbiere, the end of the itinerary.
If you turn right into Via delle Motte, you can walk back along the paved road and in a little more than a kilometre you will reach the crossroads where the mule track to Monte Bedea starts.
